This is not a very useful sentence. If someone really wanted to write a sentence with a placeholder, they might write something like:
Have you already been to [place name]?
But I don't think placeholder sentences are very useful ways to learn a language or represent how the language works. Better to use a real place:
Have you already been to Paris?
Not only is this more natural, but when translated, other words in the sentence can be changed as necessary. For instance, "to" would be translated differently in French according to whether the place was a city or a country (and if a country, according to gender).
