polish verb "padać" usually means rain but when you use it during winter it could mean snow

I doubt whether the we can call this sentence ambigous. Since "padać" means "to fall", its meaning by definition comprises all forms of precipitation like drizzle, rain, sleet, snow, graupel and hail.
