    Ok, but it implies a problem in the original translation. I'm not an expert in Japanaese but I can understand the Japananese translation and it does not seem to mean the original sentence. I believe the Japanese translation here is wrong (or vis versa). Can a native confirm this?

    This doesn't translate to "This may be research my secretary did". More like, "I'll look this over with my secretary." or "I'll research this with my secretary".

    so ... 不 VERB 了 .... is not correct, note that you may find the construction

    ... 不 VERB 了。 with 了 at the end but then it's only to express a break with the current situation

    for example

    现在不下雨了 = now it's no more raining (i.e just before it was raining and right now it has stopped)

    Actually 没 is both the negative form that you must put with "有" and also the negative past form

    OK, sorry for the misunderstanding. Is chinese grammar is using past tense like a european language? Because, if I say, Qunian wo bu mai le zhe ben shu, is it wrong than Qunian wo mei mai le zhe ben shu?? Xiexie ni, dajie ^^

    没有,我觉得“want”主要是“想”和“希望”的意思,翻译成“要”就带有命令的口气,这里不管是英语还是法语相对应的句子语气上还是挺客气的
