Non, ça n'irait pas. Il n'y a pas d'antériorité ici.

Lorsqu'on raconte un récit passé, le passé simple relate des actions ponctuelles, tandis que l'imparfait relate des faits dans la durée ou davantage permanent. Avoir perdu son chemin est quelque chose d'intemporel. Cela fait peut-être longtemps qu'ils l'ont perdu. Donc c'est l'imparfait qui convient.

« Nous eûmes perdu notre chemin » (passé antérieur) s'emploie dans un contexte d'action antérieure à l'action relatée, elle même passée :

Nous eûmes perdu notre chemin si nous n'avions pas disposé de guide.
