I suspect the French doesn't match either.
Many of the early French sentences linked to Tanaka Corpus sentences are translations of the English and not really translations of the Japanese.

It doesn't, "すうっと" appears literary and old-fashioned to me, "すーっと" or "すっと" is more common.

It may not sound strange in novels or something, but I would not use it daily.
