Shouldn't しゅ have been changed to 種 rather than 趣? That seems to fit better. Also I thought 趣 was usually read おもむき, not しゅ.

Some dictionaries have the entry/example of "趣(おもむき)を異にする."

I've also found examples of "種を異にする" online, but most of them seemed to be used in biological contexts ("種" as in "species").
I assume that the original writer of this sentence used the incorrect transcription of "趣" in hiragana here.
