Does it actually sound natural to 入浴 in an 池?

I can't really answer since I'm not a NJS, but it seemed OK to me. An alternative could be 自分の体を洗っています.

Well, if I take a somewhat similar situation and do some web search comparisons (because I'm not a NJS either)

"小鳥が水浴び" 191 Yahoo hits
"小鳥が入浴" 1 Yahoo hits

So I would tend to go for
リスが池に水浴びをしています。
