The article 'the' sounds like a second-language speaker in this case ( unlike 'the circulation of the blood' or a variant such as 'your blood circulation' ) as 'blood circulation' is an abstract notion and not a concrete notion and here 'blood' is not an attribution (or need not be read or understood as such.)

The sentence has a "stuffy" British sound in Canadian or American English because of the use of 'the'.

That is, unless 'the lymph circulation' or some such preceded this assertion. Adding 'the' is what a non-medical self-proclaimed "expert" might do so as to sound more knowledgeable on "the topic" of pulmonary and cardiac science.
