"frère" and "son" don't match. or is it the same word in japanese?

I think 悲観 is misused in place of 悲嘆.

If you search on the Google Books, "悲観に暮れ" returns 6 results, while "悲嘆に暮れ" returns 439 results.

Can we change this sentence? Or should we consider "悲観に暮れる" as a possible form, because at least 6 professionals(maybe not always) write so?

I think you should change it if you consider it a mistake. I'm not a native speaker, but 悲嘆 seems to make more sense.
