I agree that 書いた方がいい is more common, so it wouldn't hurt to change it unless it is a direct quote.

Change romaji to
tegami o kaita hou ga ii to omoimasu ka.

Paul, you might like to amend the (WWWJDIC) index when you change a sentence. Trang can fill you in on the method. I've done this one.
