“that stretches out ahead” does not seem correct

Nice to meet you, @Breadman.
I'm a beginner in English. I'm not sure about the meaning of this English sentence. So, if you wouldn't mind, please could you tell me?

(1) Does this English sentence correct as an English sentence? Does it make sense?
If your answer is no, you don't need to reply to (2).

(2) If the Japanese sentence is changed from "持っているのさ(have)" to "待っているのさ(waiting)", do you think it matches the English sentence?

Annotation:
I'm sorry. I'm not sure the meaning of this English sentence. However, I think the sentence means "それ(の状態)が長くかかる".
If assuming its meaning is right;
I thought "待っているのさ(waiting)" might match the English sentence. But I say again. I'm not sure.

If its meaning isn't right;
Could you tell me what the meaning of the English sentence? I may come up with a good translation.
I'm not sure... If that doesn't work, I'll give up. Thank you.

I've unlinked this.

I suggest ignoring that English and not attempting to translate it.

I've deleted the English.
It's apparently part of a Beatles song taken out of context which is why it makes no sense.
