    The English translation is incorrect. This sentence says "the (sports) game was very uninteresting."

    "-kunai" on an adjective makes it negative, i.e. "not". "-katta" makes it past, i.e. "was". The combination "-kunakatta" = "was not".

    "The game became exciting" would be "Shiai wa omoshiroku-natta." 試合は面白くなった。
