    Note:

    According to a dictionary, 姑 can be read both しゅうと and しゅうとめ.
    However, we usually read it as しゅうとめ when we talk about a mother-in-law. If I hear しゅうと, I assume it means a father-in-law.

    Yes, that what I meant. We mostly use it for しゅうと.
