Wiktionary says that "limpiar" means "to clean, to wash, to wipe" https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/limpiar#Spanish
whereas "to clear" when referring to a table means "To remove obstructions, impediments or other unwanted items from." https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/clear#Verb
I think this might be the result of simply misreading "clear" as "clean".
The Chinese translation unambiguously means "to wipe", I don't know about the others.
@marafon Since you linked two translations recently, maybe you can tell whether this link is correct or not.
“Despejé” es la palabra correcta.
I think "limpiar la mesa" is a valid translation for "to clear the table", too.
