Can anyone enhance this to a whole sentence? Something like ", she left him"?

@small_snow - can you please confirm we should change it?

@Ricardo14
I think #173520 sounds like a half-finished sentence. So I would suggest the following changes.
甲斐性のない夫に愛想を尽かして。
--->
彼女は、甲斐性のない夫に愛想を尽かして離婚しました。
メアリーって、甲斐性のない夫に愛想を尽かしたから別れたんだって。
and so on...

However, currently, #173520 seems to match the English sentence, and this pair seems to originate from the Tanaka corpus.

That's why I think that if we change #173520, perhaps it might be better to contact JimBreen before we change it. In addition, I think we should be careful not to break this link. If you or someone will change #240950, perhaps I can help you, so let me know at that time.

@CK, @Pfirsichbaeumchen
What do you think about my thoughts about this Tanaka corpus sentence? Does what I propose seem reasonable?

We would have to change both sentences of course. Perhaps either @JimBreen or CK would be willing to adjust the English sentence to one of your suggestions. An easier solution would be to delete this pair, and you could then add those two complete sentences separately for us to translate. Let's wait and see what they suggest. I'll put some tags. 🙂

@Pfirsichbaeumchen

Thank you for your reply and detailed advice. I will wait and see what they will suggest. Many thanks! :)

Yes, it should be changed. I like both of small_snow's suggestions; can we select one? The first? The sentence is valuable as it contains the expression 愛想を尽かす, which is nowhere else in Tatoeba.

To make things simple, I've just gone ahead and put Koyuki's first sentence in. She can now adopt it. Would you be so kind as to change the English sentence? I hope I haven't been too daring. 🙂

I've suggested a translation.

Thank you. 🙂

What should we do with this one: “Because of disaffection with her good-for-nothing husband” (#240950)? Delete or change it into some second translation?

JimBreen JimBreen July 1, 2020 July 1, 2020 at 10:04:36 PM UTC link Permalink

I think it can be deleted.
