And what about someone who has just undergone a brain concussion and is not sure whether they are both acquaintances? Couldn't it be said then?
I'm asking all these questions because if this sentence is not possible in a usual conversation, then I would suggest to delete it.
In that case, I'd say, "Am I supposed to know you?" [#3402389]
This wording ("Am I supposed to know you?") would certainly not be an accurate translation of the Russian (my original sentence).
However, as it exists already, do you have an alternative wording?
