And change it to English my friend ;)

English flag!

@CK: While deleting the duplicate, you also deleted the link with 862294 which is still linked with the deleted sentence. That is not correct. Links should be updated when a sentence is deleted, so as to preserve the trace of the author of the translation (me in this case, and I do not appear in the list on the right...

Brief history of the scenario:
1) someone creates sentence S
2) someone creates sentence T
3) I translate T to U where U=S
4) You delete U
=> I'm still the translator from T to U=S, so I'm still the translator of T to S <=> S to T

=> I should appear in the list of translations of both S and T

If you do not properly understand this procedure, I suggest you stop deleting sentences altogether.

@sacredceltic: CK didn't delete the duplicate. If you do not properly understand the logs, I suggest you stop making accusations regarding them altogether. ;-)

Check the French sentence (#862294) and you'll find that it's linked to this sentence (#1819). If you have a problem with missing information in the logs, please contact sysko. No need to get upset. :-)

>CK didn't delete the duplicate. If you do not properly understand the logs, I suggest you stop making accusations regarding them altogether. ;-)

YES he DID http://tatoeba.org/epo/sentences/show/862293
And I received a message for that.
Swift, if you don't understand what a deletion is and entails in Tatoeba, I suggest you renounce pretending to moderate this community...

Besides, Trang had written that no more MANUAL deletions should take place before this deduplication procedure is back on its feet, possibly in a future version. Why is that moderators do not consistently follow the same Admin rules?

>Check the French sentence (#862294) and you'll find that it's linked to this sentence (#1819). No need to get upset.

It is linked, but the link history is wrong, as the proper translator from English to French doesn't appear anymore in the history. That is NOT CORRECT.

Check that page again, scaredceltic. There's nothing in the log indicating that anyone, including CK deleted it. Nor is there any mention of the sentence in CK's profile log. Compare that with a sentence that he's actually deleted.

Really, this is just silly.

If you refuse to listen to people and continue to pull the wool over your own eyes, then there's little anyone can do to help you.

Except I received a message from CK just before it was deleted :

"CK has posted a comment on a sentence where you also

@sacredceltic: CK has posted many comments on duplicate sentences. That doesn't mean he has deleted them. (We were told not to do that, except under special circumstances, such as if the duplicate is very recent.)

>CK has posted many comments on duplicate sentences. That doesn't mean he has deleted them.

Ok, maybe it is a coïncidence, but it is very curious...
Besides, I saw CK deleting duplicates numerous times before...

Zifre Zifre May 2, 2011 May 2, 2011 at 3:21:11 AM UTC link Permalink

> Ok, maybe it is a coïncidence

Probably. I take it you read the New Yorker a lot?

> Besides, I saw CK deleting duplicates numerous times before...

Recently, or before the new policy?

sacredceltic sacredceltic May 2, 2011 May 2, 2011 at 3:29:43 AM UTC link Permalink

>I take it you read the New Yorker a lot?

I sometimes do, but I do not see a link with the situation.

>Recently, or before the new policy?

I will look in my history. The problem, which I emphasised before already, is that it is very difficult to find traces of this, since the sentences have in effect been deleted...

I hadn't realised there was a deduplication operation going on at the moment. This is very good and I support it. However, it the procedure is the culprit, it should be corrected, unless the situation is just transitory and the links will be updated, which might be the case, reading from what sysko explained.
On the other hand, if the deduplication script is back, there is no purpose in commenting duplicates...

sysko sysko May 2, 2011 May 2, 2011 at 4:32:20 AM UTC link Permalink

(I've only read the last comment of Sacredceltic)

Actually I didn't prevent anyone that I would redo the script (I mean before I started it) it should be finished by now, so tell me if you still see some problems in the merging of recent (less than 2/3 months, I know that they were some bugs in the previous versions of the script)

In your case it should be all good from now

And yep now there's no more necessary to comment on duplicate, except if they are "near" duplicates

sacredceltic sacredceltic May 2, 2011 May 2, 2011 at 9:01:10 AM UTC link Permalink

>In your case it should be all good from now

Indeed. OK, so my apology to CK. The coïncidence was unfortunate.

And congratulations, sysko, for puting this most necessary deduplication back on its feet!

> I sometimes do, but I do not see a link with the situation.

I was referring to your unusual spelling conventions. ;-)

sacredceltic sacredceltic May 2, 2011 May 2, 2011 at 1:39:27 PM UTC link Permalink

>I was referring to your unusual spelling conventions. ;-)

Yes, I'm a native francophone, and it sometimes perspires in my spelling. But I'm not sorry for it, given that I take the pain to write in your imperialist language.
You should respect non-natives for doing so and focus on what they say rather than on how they say it.
