@issadouba don't adopt and edit orphan sentences please.
This is not what the sentence originally meant
Please change it back
@issadouba
Note that one of our rules is to only adopt sentences in your own native language.
You should revert this sentence, then release it, so a native speaker can adopt it if they want to.
Note that all previously-linked translations are based on the original sentence, so now they likely all do not match anymore.
If the Arabic doesn't match, then leave a comment on the Arabic sentence.
This was on my first day. I had no idea how the website works or what is a sentence "adoption", I thought I was just translating it.
I actually don't think issadouba ever adopted this sentence. Most probably they did what they say they did.
So let's say there's an orphan sentence "Hallo.".
Now, you translate a Spanish sentence, say "Hola.".
You translate is as "Hallo." into English. This will link the existing orphan sentence to the Spanish sentence and it will belong to you now.
Then you realize Hello is a better spelling, so you change your Hallo to Hello. And that's it.
From your perspective, you just translated a Spanish sentence, and then corrected something in your own sentence.
From the orphan's point of view, it looks like you adopted it and changed it from one valid (albeit rare) spelling to another.
It's not issadouba's issue, it's a technical problem or maybe a feature, if you wish.
Aha, this makes sense. If that's what happened, it's clear why issadouba is confused by our requests to unadopt the sentence since he never explicitly adopted it in the first place. However, "I spent idle days during the vacation" isn't exactly a basic common sentence like "Hello", so it seems unlikely.
Hey deniko.
I agree with you. I probably just translated an orphan sentence that was put on the list of random English sentences when I was translating random sentences to Arabic, but the website somehow linked it to me, that is why I deiced instead of translating random sentences to click on the last created one. then probably I will not have to encounter orphan sentences.
Well, whatever happened here (whether you explicitly adopted it, or adopted it by translating), you still need to unadopt it and change it back to what it was.
To unadopt you need to click on this silhouette next to your username:

Your username will disappear and it will become orphan again.
But unwanted adoption happened to me a few times in the past.
I did.
