Maybe {chu'} would be more suitable here. I don't know if 'fresh, just killed' could be used in Klingon for data.

It's probably not a standard use of the word, but I think the message would carry over loud and clear.

I suggest we keep this one, but add {De' chu' tu'lu''a'?} as a separate sentence. Or perhaps {chu'qu'}, since it's not just regular news, but extra fresh news.
If possible, we could mark this one as non-standard.

Actually now I think you're right. I suddenly remembered that there is also canon {Hol ghoQ} and {mu'mey ghoQ}, which both kind of mean "slang". So yes, {ghoQ} can indeed be used in that sense, it seems. I think it's a good idea to add {De' chu'qu' tu'lu''a'?} as an alternative translation. Maybe this sentence here could be marked as "colloquial"?

Does "colloquial" mean it's in common use? Because in that case, perhaps "informal" would be better?

I agree. I'll add the "informal" tag. :)
