Just I would use 他に and I think it is more common written ほかに.

However I see the major JE dictionaries, e.g. 新和英大辞典第５版 and 新和英中辞典, all use ほかに in their example sentences, and of the ~60 sentences in Tatoeba that use the expression, about 50 use ほかに.

この場合の「ほか」は「名詞」ではなく「副助詞（係助詞）」になると思います。そして、私の手元の国語辞典にも「副助詞」扱いの「ほか」はひらがな書きになっています。用法としてJimBreen氏がおっしゃるようにひらがな書きが正しいように思います。

公文書は「ほか」を「他」と書かない指針のようです。「そのた」と「そのほか」の読みを区別するためにも、「その他」と「そのほか」で表記するのは一理あります。
今回は公文書の指針に従い、ひらがな表記に戻すことにします。

手元に古い国語辞典(平成22年より前)と比較的新しい国語辞典とがあり、どちらも同じような記述になっているので、それは、また別の話だと思います。
