    I would interpret this to mean that it takes these values as input, which is not true. (The domain of both functions is all real numbers.)

    I think a correct way to say this is "The functions sine and cosine have a range of -1 to 1 (-1 and 1 included)." or "The functions sine and cosine produce values between -1 and 1 (-1 and 1 included)."

    Or, we can just tag it as "Lie"...

    It would probably be a good idea to review the translations, because some of them are probably not correct.

    Taking a value isn't the same as taking an argument. A function f takes the argument x and returns the value f(x). It can also be said that the function takes the value f(x) when evaluated at x.
