I've considered this as a religious standpoint toward scientist, and I have translated it in such manner. Like, there are more to the Truth than scientist are able to see, as they (scientist) are narrowminded.
that is not what the sentence says.
The context could be : we were told that everybody ignored what happened, but it was later revealed that scientists might have actually known it.
Then I will correct my translation to a sense: It turns out that scientest have known the truth.
I was mislead by definite article "the truth" -as one and only.
