Is there no way of saying ‚to mention‘ in your 3 italian translations, I guess ‚speaking‘ could be used in any other language too but it would not be ‚exact‘?

like menzionare or

• Non ha minimamente accennato alla lite con la moglie.

Or is this really the fluent less clunky way you would express this in Italian?

Because many other languages can be successfully linked as being direct translation of each other but Italian can‘t because of the ‚parliamo‘.

I am wondering what the picture is that you have in mind when you apply this sentence to an event.

• You and your friends are watching back a video clip you made and you are hinting them to take a close look at the scene that is about to appear on screen very soon.

• You are on the way to some negotiation and tell your friend to have a close look at your competitor’s face when you are going to mention the price.

Knowing the context, would you phrase these two little stories differently in English?

I'd say "Watch his face" or "Keep an eye on his face" in both situations. I've added a few such sentences, linked to the French, German, and Russian. Note that I didn't add the sentence here ("Observe his facial reaction when we mention a price"). I only adopted it.

So there are no grammatically different translations required to individually accommodate the two interpretations. You can use the same translation in both contexts?
