This sentence was originally given as the English translation of the Japanese version here (「死中にかつ活をもと求める。」 as of 2020-12-22). It is a terrible translation, and I intend to amend the entry for the Japanese, as soon as I figure out how to do that.
Moreover, there are many problems with this sentence in English, not least of which is the fact that it makes no sense — [a] "gift [...] like [a] discovery [...]" ?? Then there's the clumsy syntax, which may or may not be replicated in the other translations, most of which seem to be from the English rather than the Japanese. (I can't judge the Turkish.)
In short, this sentence is not an example of good English, and should either be re-written or deleted altogether.
