I think that a native English speaker would be more likely to say "I heard that story once" or "I heard that story once before" or "I've heard that story once before".
what about:
I once heard that story.
Thanks, Alan and danepo.
danepo, I associate "I once heard..." with the beginning of a new topic: "I once heard a story that goes like this..." By contrast, "I heard that story once" is a pattern that I associate with information that has already been presented (which the use of the phrase "that story" suggests).
How do you then translate into English:
Mi aŭdis tiun rakonton unufoje.
??
@danepo Mi aŭdis tiun rakonton unufoje =I heard that story on one occasion.
Or "I heard that story once."
