I think the better version is "Dumating ako dito sa bansang Hapon nuong nakaraang dalawang taon."

"Dumating ako sa bansang Hapon" meant that you are no longer in Japan. Original sentence meant that you're still in the place ("I came to") so it's better to put "dito" or "here".
