"... didn't exist." "in the world" is not necessary.
It was intended as a translation of the Japanese sentence.
If tea didn't exist, there wouldn't be a Tea Party. ☺
Fair enough, I can't understand the Japanese and was just looking at it as an English sentence. This is the conundrum of the Tatoeba Project, doing natural-sounding translations which accurately translate the language being translated. :)
