I also think that the word 'to' is too much here maybe?
Or is it better to say: "to believe in" to put some accent on the context of the story?
"I don't believe in this story" wouldn't really fit here as "to believe in something" means to be pursuaded of the existence of the thing believed in. For example "Tom believes in ghosts."
Having said that, I cannot read any of the languages other than the English version, so am unable to make a suggestion for a better version.
