Isn’t it strange to refer to a woman as a postman?
Annotation:
> Isn’t it strange to refer to a woman as a postman?
Traditionally, no.
The same for fireman, policeman, chairman, etc.
In recent years, people have changed the "man" part to "woman" and in even more recent years, people have tried to avoid the "man" part altogether in some words such as "chairperson" or "fire fighter."
Since one of TRANG's guidelines is to not change things that are already correct, even if they are old-fashioned or archaic, I think we need to leave this one as it is.
