This sounds strange in English. @CK, what does the Japanese mean?
@AlanF_US
Japanese sentence was strange, too. So I changed the Japanese sentences.
The meaning of the Japanese sentence:
He wasn't good at science, or he was too weak so he couldn't go to school. So he can't keep up with the science class at school.
I hope you understand what I try to say. :)
> He is backward in science.
Thank you, @small_snow.
I guess this is a legal English sentence, though I usually see "backward" in this sense applied to a group rather than an individual. Therefore, I'll let it stand, but I also added #9056765 ("He lags behind in science"), which I think is more natural (or at least common).
@AlanF_US
Thank you for your explanation and links.π
