  1. I would say "He's become frail in his old age" for the sentence 彼も年のせいで弱くなった since sentences like this using 弱い tend to describe one's physical weakening as one grows older.

    This is a case where you should add an alternative translation.

    Though you translation may be better, some people could possibly use "get soft" as in his muscles get soft (or weaker.).

    I like your translation better and would hope that it's the one that would get chosen for wwwJdict.
  2. Actually I don't think people would use "get soft" in that way. I think it should be unlinked.
