    I would use English: "If you are a member of a primitive community and wish to produce food, for example, there are two things you must do."

    this sentence seems ok as it is...it's better to leave it as it is and yours as a second translation

    Actually, I was too kind. I meant to correct it and improve it.

    If you are happy with it, then I must point out that the word 'thing' must be plural (ie things) otherwise the English is wrong.
