Is this the same as "How about we go get breakfast at McDonald's"? I ask for translation purposes
They're pretty similar, but "What do you think about having breakfast at McDonald's?" is talking about eating in the restaurant, while "How about we go get breakfast at McDonald's?" could mean buying food there and eating it elsewhere.
Sorry, I was not sure. I'd like to know more about it. When can we use the phrase "What do you think about having ..."?
For example:
(1) "I'm hungry, so I wanna eat breakfast. Where do you want to go for breakfast? Shake Shack, sweetgreen, Tasty Burger, and so on" "Well, what do you think about having breakfast at McDonald's?"
or
(2) Just talking to get listeners' opinions about "having breakfast at McDonald's"; (e.g.) It means "Do you consider having breakfast at McDonald's a good thing for our health, or not?"
I hope my poor English will be understood.
It could be used for either (1) or (2). The context and information already available to the listener would make the speaker's meaning clear. In this case, (1) would be more likely.
By the way, "wanna" and "gonna" emphasize informality. Unless there's a good reason to do this, "want to" and "going to" are better: https://ell.stackexchange.com/q...nt-to-vs-wanna
Thank you. I could translated this sentence. Also, thanks for telling about "wanna" and "gonna". I've always wanted to use it, but I found out I shouldn't use it now. Thanks. 🍀
It's not wrong to use, it's just not very suitable as Tatoeba sentences.
