No, big news is correct (without "a"). It should stay as it is.

Ok, but I don't understand the difference in meaning. This is a big news is in Spanish: Esta es un gran noticia, but This is big news, the literal translation in Spanish is: Esta es gran noticia, but it doesn't sound well and I think is not the right translation. Thanks.

The thing is, in English news is an uncountable noun, therefore it cannot have an indefinite article.
