Could you explain me the meaning of this sentence? Porters are the employees carrying luggages and stuff, right? So I don't get what lines it is about.
The Japanese means to walk across the railroad tracks.
I've never heard "walk across the lines" in this context, but I also assume this could possibly be a sentence from the early days of train travel, so possibly it's OK.
It could also be a mistranslation of the Japanese.
