A frase está no presente em inglês. Por que passar para o passado em português? Não faz qualquer sentido?

Ok, considerei "lay" como o passado de "lie", e não como o verbo "lay" no presente, e organizei a frase apropriadamente. Já que "lie" se refere a "estar deitado", a tradução nesse caso seria "eu estava deitado de bruços" e não "eu me deitei de bruços".
