Laŭ mi, maljun- = old, -ul- = person. “Fellow” simple estas slanga vorto por “person, human”.

Angla-rusa vortaro sciigas, ke "old fellow" estas nedisigebla esprimo, signifanta "mia kara delonga amiko".
Vi pravas. La esprimo havas la sencon de samklasano aŭ kunlaboranto de antaŭe.
Sed ĝi certe ne estas “nedisigebla”. Eblas simple signifi “old” (maljuna) “fellow, person” (-ulo).
Krome, la angla esprimo “old fellow” ankaŭ povas signifi “kaco” :-P
