「トムはよく彼女の夢を見る。」にしても「トムはよく彼女の夢を見た。」にしても書き言葉の文体ですので、「彼女」は文脈によって人称代名詞とも恋人ともどちらにも自然になりうると思います。

(話し言葉で第三者の過去の夢について語る場面はあまり想像できません。)

(ぼくの話す日本語では、英語の人称代名詞は「ゼロ代名詞」になることが一番多い気がします。

「1コ下にメアリーって子いたの、(君ハ)覚えてる?」「(私ハ)(彼女ヲ)覚えてるけど、なんで?」「(彼女ガ)最近よく(私ノ)夢に出てくるんだ」)

というか正直トムの夢にはあまり興味ないです。
小説家でもないので他人がどんな夢を見ているかなんて知りませんし他人の夢について語ったこともない気がするのですが、これって変なのでしょうか?

I agree with tommy_san and I thought this sentence was for a novel.


If this sentense should be colloquial, I would translate it like this:

トムって、カノジョの夢をよく見るんだって。

I'm not sure if I might add 「だって」part which means "I heard" or "Tom told me" though.
