As a translation of German, it should be "How did you.."

“überstanden” puts an emphasis on the anesthesia itself and on the dangers of it, whereas »recover from« asks for the period of time from the end of the anesthesia until now or the full recovery. So this is not the proper translation, I’m afraid.
