In what kind of situation would you say this?

It means "Hurry up."

scenario 1: Tom and Mary are getting ready to go out and Mary is taking a bit too long to get ready. Tom could say to her "hurry up" or "Get a move on. We'll be late"

scenario 2: Mary's walking the kids to school but they are dawdling along well behind her. She might say "Get a move on, you two. You'll be late for school."
