Ein interessanter Fall!
Meines Erachtens ist beides möglich.

(1) Es bringt nichts, dort hinzugehen. (z.B. im Sinne von: Es lohnt sich einfach nicht ...)
(2) Es bringt nichts, dorthin zu gehen. (Hier wird eine besondere Betonung auf DIESEN Ort - im Unterschied zu einem ANDEREN Ort - gelegt. Beispiel:
A: Ich habe meine Brieftasche verloren. Zuhause habe ich schon vergeblich gesucht. Nun überlege ich, nochmals zum Bahnhof zu gehen.
B: Es bringt nichts, dorthin zu gehen.

Dann sollte man beide Varianten zum englischen Satz einsetzen. Danke, Tamy.
