According to http://publications.europa.eu/c.../nl-370303.htm the Euro symbol should come after the amount and be separated from it by a space.

Hmm, you're right, but I can't remember I ever see it used like that. In any case, it's not how we commonly write it in the Netherlands. I prefer to adhere to the rules the Dutch Language Union gives. http://taaladvies.net/taal/advies/vraag/1179

Ik vind "€ 30,-" een rare schrijfwijze. Wordt dat dan ook uitgesproken als "euro dertig"? In België heeft men het altijd gehad over 1200 F (duizend tweehonderd frank). Sinds de invoering van de euro wordt ook hier het euroteken meestal vooraan geplaatst, en om die reden heb ik dat teken nog nooit gebruikt. Liever 30 EUR.

Als je erover nadenkt is het inderdaad raar dat je het euroteken voor het getal schrijft, maar erna uitspreekt. Maar omdat dit wel is hoe de Nederlandse Taalunie het adviseert, en vooral ook omdat dit is hoe het gewoonlijk geschreven wordt (tenminste in Nederland, in teksten die niet heel officieel zijn, waar je wel EUR zou zien), wil ik het toch zo laten. Maar voel je vrij om een zin met een andere variant toe te voegen.
