Hi Saeb,
What's the meaning of قرابة in this context?

Eldad Eldad January 5, 2013 January 5, 2013 at 12:11:17 PM UTC link Permalink

Yes, actually, this is what I know.
Yet, it's not what the original sentence reads. This is why I asked what saeb meant in this context (as the original doesn't mention "approximately", or any similar expression).

If you wanna take a literal approach here be my guest, imho this is a normal way of stating it took 2 years, arabic texts tend to keep a probability

unowned

Why...?
You shouldn't unown it. We can either leave it - with your comment (as above), or unlink it, and then we'll add corresponding variants, such as:

The war lasted approximately two years.
(or any other variant which you deem right).

The reason I asked about this sentence was that I noticed that you did translate it literally as well (in another variant), so I wasn't sure I properly understood the current variant.

> The reason I asked about this...
No need to justify yourself

> Why...? You shouldn't unown it.
I'm giving you the final decision here. Maybe I'm abusing the translation system by introducing an element of probability.

OK, thanks. :)
