there is a mild differencei n between English and German. Is it "in effect" or "in reality" as "wirklichkeit" says ?
Dictionaries give both 'in effect' and 'in reality' as translations of the Japanese word in question.
the problem arises when I translate this into French. "en effet" and "en realité" are 2 different things.
"in reality"/"en réalité"/"in wirklichkeit" supposes that I didn't expect a refusal, when "in effect"/"en effet" confirms what I expected...
