As far as I know oversleeping is when you accidentally wake up later than you should have.
In this context: School starts at 8:00 and I woke up at 7:45(usually I wake up at say, 7:25) so until I got to school I was late.
To be honest, now I'm not sure my self.. You see, English is not my 1st language so I wrote what I thought was the best translation at the time. I'm still pretty sure "overslept" is right though..
Doesn't 寝坊 mean to sleep longer than one intended?
I think the second one should be unlinked.
"oversleep" means accidental
"sleep in" means on purpose, for example, many people like to sleep in on holidays.
