Fakte, 'pop' ja estas mallongigo de 'populara' - almenaŭ, tiel la vorto evoluis en la angla lingvo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music

La vortoj "populara muziko" aperas inter krampoj komence de la artikolo....

"Pop-muziko (populara muziko) estas muziko kiu plaĉas kaj sukcesas ĉe larĝa publiko. Ĝiaj strukturoj plej ofte estas simplaj, memoreblaj kaj dancotaŭgaj.
