Perhaps, but the original sentence was in Esperanto and it was a single sentence. Keeping it as one sentence seems to be closest to the original since there are no differences in phrase breaking in the two languages.
But feel free to add a second English translation to give the reader an alternative.
Here's an em-dash if you want to substitute that for your double-dash: "—".
