Tondilo = Instrumento, konsistanta el du interkruciĝantaj almoveblaj klingoj, kies interna rando estas tranĉa.

Ĉu ne tiukaze tondilo ne alprenu -j finaĵon krom se temas pri 2 aŭ pli da tondiloj?

Ankaŭ aliaj tradukoj interpretas "scissors" tiel, ke temas pri pli ol unu klingo-duopo. Ekzemple germane: "Scheren" = "tondiloj" = "pairs of scissors".
Ŝajnas, ke en la angla "tondilo" estas "pairs of scissors" (tiam ĉio estas klara), sed povas esti ankaŭ "scissors" (tiam ne estas eble scii, ĉu temas pri unu aŭ pluraj tondiloj)- Mi esperas, ke denaskulo konfirmos aŭ malkonfirmos tion.

Post plia trarigardo mi emas supozi, ke tamen via elekto de "tondilo" verŝajne estas ĝusta. Mi demandos al CK, kiu aldonis la frazon.
