the most interesting or an interesting book
If I am not wrong. If I am, could someone explain this "a most"? Thanks.
I think that here "most" is not being used in the ordinary superlative sense, but means something like "very" or "quite." It is not making the claim that there are no novels whatsoever that are more interesting than the one that was read. It looks like German allows a similar usage with the indefinite article as well. Anyway, the sentence, as it stands, is perfectly good English.
OK thanks a lot.
