Sí, es la forma habitual de referirse a ello, cuando la capucha simplemente cubre la cabeza y se echa para atrás.

A veces, este elemento dispone además de un cordel que permite modificar la apertura de la capucha de modo que se pueda ceñir y dejar que sólo se vea el rostro; en esa situación se podría usar "Ábrete la capucha." para indicar que se destense el cordel.

Sin embargo, creo que con "open the hood", los ingleses se refieren en primer lugar al capó de un coche.

Yo lo había entendido como prenda de vestir.
Si no es ése el sentido de la frase aquí, y se refiere a la cubierta de un vehículo, entonces la traducción sería otra.

Cuando la cubierta es del motor:
-Levanta la capota/el capó.
-Abre el capó/la capota.

Cuando la cubierta es la del equipaje:
-Abre el maletero.

Según tengo entendido, el maletero sería o "the trunk" o "the boot", dependiendo del dialecto.
